Work From Home Permanent

According to a May 6, 2020, CRN article, Michael Dell recently told Presidio executives:

I think if you were skeptical about work from home, you probably aren’t now. And I think we’ve all learned a lot in the last few months here

Actually, it was seven years ago, in 2013, when the Austin Business Journal reported that Dell wanted to have its half of its employees to be remotely working away from the office by 2020.

Technology Is Important

To show how important technology is to working from home, Michael Dell was also quoted in the CRN article:

Technology is more important now than it’s ever been. It’s kind of amazing how quickly the world is adapting.

Dell is, of course, a technology leader in its own right, and even has a work at home technology solution. It makes sense that Dell would provide a work at home technology solution, but how does all this relate to the real estate industry?

Real Estate Disruption

In one of my recent posts, I speak to how various industries have experience disruption due to cloud base technologies. A good is example is how Amazon.com disrupted the retail industry by leveraging cloud technologies. Amazon was an earlier adopter as an online seller of books and is now the largest e-commerce company in the world.

Other industries have experience disruption as well. Uber disrupted the transportation industry. Airbnb disrupted the hospitality industry. Blockbuster Video was flying high with $6 billion dollars in annual revenue and 6,000 retail outlets. Then Netflix came along and disrupted the video distribution industry. Today there is one Blockbuster store left on the planet.

Real Estate is experiencing the same disruption. With the rise of the internet and other cloud based technologies, real estate agents, team leaders, and brokers have been benefiting from that disruption through many technology solutions.

Now with the response to COVID-19, working from home has become much more prevalent in the real estate industry. Many technologies, such as video call applications, have become mainstream and have allowed real estate agents to be more profitable and productive.

One such technology is VirBELA’s virtual office platform.

Your Virtual Office

You can actually test drive your virtual office through VirBELA’s free open campus or by obtaining a private team suite.

VirBELA’s open campus or private team rooms provide an 3D environment that gives any remote group a way to collaborate and chat in a way that feels:

  • more powerful than a text chat
  • more powerful than a video chat
  • more engaging than both
